I am just so excited that all these fun sporting events are happing right here where I live! It is so much fun tying math into it all. As you may know, we are not only hosting the Superbowl this year but now the WORLD SERIES! So my post today will be FILLED of pictures (there is your warning)
I must confess, I am no baseball fan but I've totally jumped on the bandwagon. (but who hasn't around these parts)
I even bought myself a shirt! This was a process. Seeing that I wasn't a baseball fan 2 weeks ago I had to figure out which shirt I was going to sport. I originally was going to pick the cutest player...It was a toss up between Elvis Andrus, Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton. Then I happened to remember seeing Hamilton as part of the I am Second campaign and loved him immediately. He has the greatest story and I <3 him! You can hear his testimony here.
Now if they could just WIN. We had a rough game last night. Surely it was just World Series jitters. Hopefully they come to play tonight. Hopefully. :)

IT'S TIME! Claws and Antlers baby!!! So the Rangers do these fun gestures during the games. It was supposed to be something silly the players did on the field but the fans have embraced it and taken it to a whole different level. So what is Claws and Antlers? This is what the newspaper says...When a Texas player does something positive offensively he'll acknowledge his feat with a "claw," fingers slightly curled with his arm extended in a rising swoop. The "antlers" -- hold both hands open above the ears to imitate a deer -- come about after something speed-related. I know you can't really see this well, but all the kids made faces with their "antlers up." They turned out really cute.
And here is our hallway in 5th grade. We mapped out where each Ranger is from on the map. Then today in math they made baseball cards. The had to find each players batting average (with calculators, of course) and they LOVED it! Below is my card :)
Please notice the tattoos. lol.

I love these ideas and I LOVE Hamilton!!! We stayed after a game when I had just found out I was pregnant to hear his testimony in person. Then, we waited by the tunnel to get his auto just in case we had a boy. That auto now hangs in Liam's room. He says, "Go Osh!" all the time!!!
