15 Weeks

My chalkboards are REALLY slacking. I'm not used to switching them every week. So sorry in advance for the lack of creativity. :/

How far along? 15 weeks 3 days.

Baby size: Baby is the size of a navel orange (according to my app)

Weight gain: Not sure...

Maternity clothes: Just my leggings and some camis I got from Target. These things are the best too! Super long and stretchy. I love them...and sorry sisters, they probably won't be making the "Maternity Box"...I'm keeping them!

Stretch marks: Nope.

Exercise: This week just walked the dog...I skipped Zumba all week. I was busy!

Sleep: I've started waking up at least once in the night. Can't be sure if its related to the CRAZY dreams I've been having or if I'm uncomfortable...

Gender: The gender has been determined!!!! I got the call this week that the baby is healthy and the Materniti21 results came back great! The gender is sitting in an envelope at the doctors office until next week. Reveal Party is on Friday!

Movement: I don't think I have....but not really sure what I'm waiting to feel. :/

Wedding Ring: On and loose!

Looking forward to: Finding out if this is a little boy or girl!!!

What I miss:  I can't think of anything I'm really missing this week. It's been a great one!

Food cravings: I've discovered fried eggs are doing a good job of keeping me full. It's not a craving, more so something I've found I don't get sick with. :) And actually its a piece of bread with a circle cut out and the egg cooked in the middle. So good.

Best moment this week: Feeling NORMAL again!! Last week was no bueno! I was a little concerned that I was developing morning sickness at 14 weeks...but it went away on Wednesday.

How We Told The Family...

When I started thinking about how we would tell the family, I went back and forth with a few ideas. I wanted to be able to tell everyone at once, but still make it special. My best friend was the only person that knew, so in order for this to work, I needed her help. I went with a text message game. I seriously had no idea if this would be lame or a hit...I just crossed my fingers and did it. :)  I sent everyone an envelope with these instructions. At the bottom was a word that they would have to text in. There was also another smaller envelope that was plastered with "DO NOT OPEN" messages. In retrospect, I was totally the best person to do this game FOR my family...because for sure if it would've come to me, (in another state, where no one could find out) I would've cheated and opened the envelope. :)
There was a lot of strategy that went into who got which words...the words together said "Dreams come true, Baby Shaw coming this July" I had to make sure that my sisters and mom had nothing that made sense together, because I figured they'd talk. :) I also had to give key words to people I didn't think would respond as fast. (lol) My best friend had the give away word, "Baby" and we kept "Shaw" here. We did have a few kinks. My dad was in Las Vegas, so naturally I sent it to his hotel, but it didn't make it to him in time. Same with my grandma...so I had to call and tell them what to text. Other than that, it went smoothly. Well, other than my mom. She was in ZERO hurry to get home that day for the game. She thought it was a chain letter and wasn't very interested. Haha!! We had it planned for my aunt and friend to be with my mom when she found out. (since I couldn't be) My mom wasn't even home yet when the game started, so we had to stall...but it all ended up being perfect and my aunt video taped the entire thing when my mom found out. It was priceless!

My little planner sister went ahead and got the group text started around 10:00 that morning. They were ready for 5:00! Here is how it all went down...

It was so much fun and they all loved it. They all sent me a picture with their words. It really was the perfect way for us to tell. Thank goodness the planned worked! :)

A New Season

In usual Katie fashion, its been a while since I've blogged. This little place has been my writing outlet through different seasons of life. It's been my life blog, fashion blog, teaching blog, wedding blog and surprise...now we're headed into a baby blog. I'm quite positive no one reads this anymore, but that's fine with me. My soul purpose in writing about my journey is so that I can have these memories forever and eventually have them printed.

Can I start by saying that God is SO GOOD! He loves to remind me that the little life plan I made when I was probably 18, was just that...mine, not His! His timing is perfect. Always.

We found out in early November. November 9th to be exact. And you already know I've been documenting this since I found out. :)
We finally went public (aka Facebook official) right at 13 weeks. Here was my post.

I sure thought it would be hard to top 2014, but I think we've done it! I am just in awe of the way God has orchestrated every single detail of our story together. Through every peak and valley, it was His plan, His timing. He's taken 2 very broken people and shown us how to love and to live a life pleasing to Him.

For the second time in my life, God has faithfully shown me that He is the ultimate physician and can do what doctors didn't think was possible. I am so thankful for the "dots" on my eyes and now this little miracle to always be a reminder of how big God is! We are feeling incredibly loved and blessed by Him in all this!! Get ready world...Baby Shaw is coming this July!

Oh, get ready...the chalkboard art has begun. I can't wait to document this journey from beginning to end...because in the end, I get the best gift of all. You.
