Instead of just babbling about the trip, I decided I would share my favorite places...just in case anyone out there is planning their own trip to New Orleans soon. I know this would've been very helpful to me before, so maybe I can help someone out. Picture Warning in effect!
This Maison St. Charles Hotel was amazing! Very cool, historical rooms.
Don't rent a car...ride the streetcars. They get you everywhere you'd want to go. We did the 3 Day Pass and it was worth every penny of that $12!
Looking for a good restaurant?
Here are some of the place we ate and loved!
Pretty Tasty Mexican Food...not the best I've ever had, but it hit the spot for me that day. :) Only bad thing...you have to pay for chips and salsa. {thumbs down}
Pat O'Briens... It got a 10 in my books
What everyone says is so true! But instead of describing beignets as donuts, I would say they taste just like funnel cakes, but better.
Super tasty little whole in the wall...Love it!
The line to this place was around the corner and super delicious!
Need Ideas on what to do when you get there?
Visit the French Quarter (duh) We went here everyday and saw new things each time.Stop and watch the entertainment in the Quarter
Bourbon Street
The French Market has fun shops and a little flea market
the oldest bar in North America is way down on Bourbon Street. Its like 2 or 3 hundred years old
Visit the cemeteries.
House of Blues
Take a carriage ride through the French Quarter
Jackson Sqaure. Go inside of St. Louis Cathedral and check it out
The Casino
My favorite place. The Cats Meow. It's a big karaoke bar, but it plays the words all over the bar so that everyone can sing...not just the singer. I was like 5 minutes away from my rapping debut, but Sey said we had to leave. I had my song picked out and everything. Regulators, Mount up....
Mississippi River
Stop and listen to some good jazz music
Check out the artwork in Jackson Sqaure
oh my oh my
ReplyDeleteAs I native, I give you an A+!!!!
Did you know the oldest bar in North America is actually Jean Lafitte's blacksmith shop, and there is NO electricity! Did you also know that because the hurricane glasses at Pat O's are stolen so much, if you bring them back to the bar, you get money back!
Gosh, so many memories. I'll be there NEXT WEEK! Thanks for this post, Katie. So great!
glad you had fun! why oh why did seymore make you leave...too many of those red drinks, eh?!?
ReplyDeletenever been. not sure i ever will go. not on my bucket list or anything, but if by chance i get off a plane there - i'm glad to have this travel guide. thanks T.
That looks so fun!!! I haven't been in ages. I want beignets. There is actually a cajun restaurant in Tulsa that makes them on Saturday, so next time you are here you must go :).
ReplyDeleteIt was a clear black night, a clear white moon, Warren G was on the streets trying to consume... I still know every word!
You look like your twin in the cemetery picture! I think its the big sunglasses :)
ReplyDeleteThank Lauren, what a compliment! We went to the oldest bar in America and they were playing Tupac. LOL. Very Cool!
ReplyDeleteKatie, What is the name of the restaurant?!? I am so mad I went and didn't buy the mix to try out at home. :(
Natalie, you made my day commenting on my post. Miss you sister!!!
I came across your blog from Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge and I'm a native to NOLA. (well, the suburbs!) So fun to read about my hometown through another's eyes!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever get a chance to go uptown?
Thanks Andie! Um...I'm not sure where uptown is. We stayed off of St. Charles Street. We went up Canal to the cemeteries and all the way down to the river. Thats about it.
ReplyDeleteSo If you linked to me from Kendi...I guess I'm officially caught. I never finished the challenge. :/ lol
